M. Jean Sutherland
M. Jean Sutherland, 88, of Moncton, with members of her family at her side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, August 24, 2010. Born in Harrisville, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Jones) Harris. Jean was retired from Modern Enterprises Inc. with 22 years service and was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, where she served in various capacities in past years. She was a member, Treasurer and Past Noble Grand of Pearl Rebekah Lodge #9, a member of the Moncton Lions Senior Citizens Club, former member of the Board of Directors of Coverdale Foundation, past Honorary President of the Atlantic Missionary Society of the Presbyterian Church in Canada and the Corresponding and Supply Secretary of the AMS. She was also a member of the Grassette Chorus Group who entertained seniors at their residences. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, play cards (cribbage and Skip-Bo), bake and make fudge for her family and friends.

Jean will be sadly missed by her daughter, Betty Rooney (Peter), Moncton; sons, Ken (Emily), Riverview, Gordon (Sandra), Mount Pearl, NL; grandchildren, David, Jamie, Michael, Keri-Ann, Kirk, Susan, Andrew and Laura; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jack Sutherland (1989) and brothers, Fred and Neil.

Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Thursday, 7 to 9 pm; Friday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Pearl Rebekah Lodge #9 Memorial Service, 6:45 pm Thursday. Funeral Service, Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, August 28, 2010, 11:00 am, Rev. Dr. Martin Kreplin officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment, Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
