Gordon R. Allen

Gordon R. Allen, 91, of Drew Nursing Home, Sackville and formerly of Mountain Road, Moncton, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital on Saturday August 7, 2010. Born in Baie Verte, he was the son of the late Copp and Amelia (Taylor) Allen. Gordon was retired from CNR Equipment with 35 years service, was a charter member of Mountain View United Church and a former member of Prince Albert Lodge #26 I.O.O.F. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, was an avid walker, golfer and bowler, savored time spent at the family cottage (Cornwall Point), enjoyed joking and spending precious time with his family and friends.

Gordon will be sadly missed by his wife of over 64 years, Thelma (Hamilton) Allen; son, Gary (Mary), Cape Spear; grandchildren, Scott, Krista, Kathy and Amy; great grandchildren, Jody, Cody, Jessica, Grace, Crew and Porter; sister, Pauline Orr; brother, Herman Allen; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Hazel Webb and brother, Eric.

Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Tuesday 7 to 9pm. Funeral Service will be held at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, Wednesday August 11, 2010, 11:00am. Rev. Mary Anningson officiating. Reception following the service in the Funeral Home Reception Centre. Interment, Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
