Edna Alberta Rideout

Edna A. Rideout, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Thursday, August 5, 2010. Born in Upper Coverdale, she was the daughter of the late John and Mabel (Chapman) Wood. Edna was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church, Moncton, the Mary Crisp Chapter, I.O.D.E. and the Zella Clarke Missionary Group. In later years, she travelled extensively. Her itineraries included European and Pacific tours, as well as Central America and the Caribbean.

Edna will be sadly missed by her daughters, Janet Rideout, Moncton and Hughanna Laird (Dennis), Riverview; son, John (Jenny), Halifax. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Krista Arsenault (Kenneth), Riverview, Lisa DeGrace, Odessa, Ukraine, Alison Lutes (Bill), Riverview, Maria Elliott (Greg), Riverview and Timothy DeGrace, Moncton; great grandchildren, Julie, Andrew and Jeffrey Arsenault; Emily and Steven Elliott and Nathaniel Lutes. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles Rideout; her sister, Irene McNair; her brother, Ernest Wood and granddaughter, Lisa Rideout, Halifax; daughter-in-law, Eleanor Rideout.

In keeping with Edna’s wishes, there will be no visitation hours. Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church, 157 Queen St., Moncton, Monday, August 9, 2010, 4:00 pm, Rev. Delbert Bannister officiating. Reception in the Church Hall following the service. Interment, Wesleyan Union Cemetery.

In Edna’s memory, donations to a memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
